Morbi bridge tragedy: Gujarat govt to launch SIT probe, death toll reaches 147 The Gujarat government has deployed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the collapse of a suspension bridge in Morbi city, Gujarat, which has killed 97 people so far. Officials said the death toll was likely to continue rising as rescue operations were underway on the Machchhu River. A government hospital doctor told local media that so far he had recovered the bodies of 45 children, accounting for almost 70% of the total deaths. Morbi State Hospital has released a list of 47 people who have died. Municipal Commissioner Rajkumar Benival will chair the Commission of Inquiry.
